There are two important things for a successful marriage.
These two are so crucial that without them it will be hard to have a harmonious
marriage. When you get married there is common slogan everybody says “for
better for worst” sincerely speaking as a Christian you cannot handle the worst
part without the help of Holy Spirit. The better part can also be mismanaged if
the present of Holy Spirit is not in your marriage. Therefore the first thing
you need in your marriage as a Christian is the
HOLY SPIRIT:
Holy Spirit is the third person in the Trinity. He is fully
God, eternal, omniscience, omnipresent, omnipotent. He is composed of
intellect, emotions and will.
John 16:13 – Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come,
he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but
whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and will show you things to
come.
John 14:16 – And I will pray the Father, and he shall give
you another comforter, that he may abide with you forever;
There are so many bible references that speak about the Holy
Spirit. I gave these two verses to give you more incite to who the Holy Spirit
is, His ability and roles.
The Holy Spirit is like oil in the engine of your marriage;
once it is dry the engine will knock, this leads to love and affections turning
into disaffection. These signify a knocked marriage engine. Because of the
absence of this great comforter in many homes, many are enduring marriage instead
of enjoying it. The essence of this write up is to tell you, there is HOPE; you
can revive your marriage and the love lost can be restored if only you will
invite Him to your home.
The problem with most marriages under tension is that they
see marriage as a finished product that does not require further attention than
to put it on the shelf of life. Therefore the marriage is left unprotected,
unguarded and free for the devil to take. Please don’t make your marriage a finished
product gathering dust and left unattended to.
Invite Holy Spirit into your marriage regularly, replenish
the anointing every time.
Ways to always have the presence of the Holy Spirit in your marriage:
- Prayer- pray together as a family, spend more time in family altar.
- Fellowship with God
- Read and understand the word of God. Believe in His promises concerning your marriage.
- Preach healing into your marriage; always speak the word of life into your marriage.
When you spend more time together; praying, reading and sharing the word of
God, fellow-shipping with Him, inviting the Holy Spirit to teach you all things
and comfort your home and speaking the word of life into your marriage. You
will experience the overflow of the Holy Spirit in your marriage.
Note: as a Christian or a minister of God who believe that
the anointing in their various ministry should flow to their marriages,
remember that you regularly prepare very hard in your ministry. Do the same to
your marriage. This is the reason why most great men of God have issue with their
marriages because they devote all their time to the ministry and left their
marriage unattended to.
Leakage of oil of the Holy Spirit in marriage:
Give no place to the devil, no matter how small. You
ignorantly or I could say sometimes you willingly open holes to your marriage
through which the oil of the Holy Spirit dry up, when you allow the following
in holes your marriage:
- Bitterness
-Unforgiveness
-Self-pity
-Malice
-Stubbornness
Titus 3:2 say; To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers,
but gentle, showing all meekness unto all men.
Guard against these holes and add more oil. That is the only
way to have more oil of Holy Spirit and open the tap of anointing to your
marriage all time.
The second thing you need to do is to be obsessed with your
marriage:
BE OBSESSED WITH YOUR MARRIAGE
You must be magnificently obsessed with your marriage. You
might say it is not simple or easy to do but with the first requirement above,
it could be the easiest thing to do.
Make your marriage the first priority, the most important
and significant. See it as the best around you and you do everything possible
to make it work. To some people their jobs are more important than their
marriages. They prepared for exam and worked hard to get promotion in the
office. The questions here are; what preparations have you made with such
seriousness for your marriage to have a change? How many marriage seminars have
you attended? Which of the things you learned have you practiced? Do you have a
covenant with God over your marriage?
Knowledge is power. according to my local church pastor (Michael Adunade), He always charge us to acquire all possible available knowledge pertaining to our career and ministries both physically and spiritually.

Many marriages are crumbling under the weight of life as a
result of lack of knowledge as the bible says in:
Hosea 4:6 – My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:
because thou hast rejected knowledge………..
Prov 2:10-12 – 10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and
knowledge is pleasant to thy soul;
11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep
thee:
12 To deliver thee from the way of evil man, from the man
speaketh forward things;
Men, be aware that the devil hates your wives with passion
and that is why he gets at you through her. You remember he uses Eve against
Adam in the bible (genesis 3) and consequences followed. If not for the birth,
life and death of Jesus Christ that redeemed us from the bondage of satan. Men, please always remember that the devil is
still in the business of bruising the heels of the children of the woman
according to genesis 3:14. When couples quarrel, the devil is using one stone
to kill two birds.
Women, since when you know your enemy, avoid not dancing
into his hands by engaging in worldly things which the devil uses to entice
people. You should see it as the enemy of your soul. These includes: malice, hatred, lack of submission to your
husbands, things that does not allow you to go for fellowship, bibles study,
prayer meetings etc. These are bait used to distract your attention.
