UNDERSTANDING WHO YOU ARE IN MARRIAGE

A basic understanding of who you are is the beginning of a fruitful marriage. When I say who you are, I mean in the context of your spiritual life. I am going to explain this for better understanding.

Spiritually you are:

• The apple of God’s eye - You need to know yourself as a child of God that you the apple of His eye, which means you are God’s most precious possession. You need to see yourself as God sees you, move, act, live, and believe in it. Do not look down on yourself. Carry yourself with great esteem and as precious as God has made you to be. Believe no one can touch you, move you out your marriage because you God’s own and the apple of His eye. Zechariah 2:8 says …..whoever touches you touches the apple of His eye.

Deut 32:10 – He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; He led him about, He instructed him, He kept him as the APPLE OF HIS EYE.

Psalm 17:8 – Keep me as the APPLE OF THE EYE, hide me under the shadow of thy wings.

• A peculiar people – You need to know that you are chosen, selected, and unique for your spouse by God. Have deep knowledge and understand that you cannot be replaced or thrown out; you are where you supposed to be. Your marriage as a child of God is not a mistake or error, believe you are in that marriage to fulfill God’s purpose. Do whatever needs to be done (in obedience to God’s word) to make your marriage work and fruitful. Living everyday thanking God for creating you in His image.

1 pet 2:9 – But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

Deut: 14:2 – For thou art a holy people unto the Lord thy God, and the Lord hath chosen thee to be A PECULIAR PEOPLE upon the earth.

• A flame of fire - It is very obvious that you cannot dare to touch a burning fire or move closer to a flame of fire if you don’t want to get burnt. That is exactly who you are. Spiritually you on fire, no power can toy with you or your marriage, when you know your marriage is built on a solid ground which JESUS CHRIST. Live in this perspective. Knowing you and your marriage are too hot for the devil or anyone to destroy. Having a graceful heart that your marriage will be successful and fruitful.

Heb 1:7 – Who maketh His angels spirits and His ministers A FLAME OF FIRE.

All these are the impression of God about you. The QUESTION now is, whose report will you believe? No wonder in psalm 8:4 David said “what is man that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man that thou visited him”. Also in psalm 49:20 “Man that is in honour and knoweth it is like the beast that perishes” so are you a man or a woman in HONOUR?

Your answer will determine WHO YOU ARE. It is of a great important to discover and see yourself as God sees you. Stop confessing the word of God only but start living in the word. Make the word of God your daily dose that you cannot survive without.
